About HactlCarbon Reduction

Lighting System

Since 2014, Hactl has installed more energy efficient LED lighting throughout its facilities. The re-fit programme contributes to energy reduction, and accounts for over 40% of Hactl’s total electricity cost savings each year.

‧ Completed Container Storage System (CSS) lighting retrofit, roof lighting enhancement and lighting automation in 2016

‧ Completed CSS maintenance lighting retrofit in 2017

‧ Replaced under-canopy lighting with LED in 2018

‧ Replaced Express Centre lighting with LED in 2019


Refrigerant

Some refrigerant evolutions can cause ozone depletion and intensify global warming if released into the atmosphere. For this reason, Hactl has gradually replaced the refrigerants in its chillers and cold storage plants with more eco-friendly alternatives.

‧ Completed feasibility study on applying eco-refrigerant in cold storage plants in 2018

‧ Replaced a chiller plant using eco-refrigerant in 2019


Equipment Optimisation

Hactl regularly maintains and optimises its equipment and facilities to ensure they are operating at optimum efficiency, and that electricity and fuel usage is minimised.

‧ Installed plastic air curtain in northern Box Storage System (BSS) in 2017

‧ Completed 1st 7,500kg cargo lift modernisation in 2018

‧ Completed Mechanical Ventilation Air Conditioning optimisation phase 2 (Air-Handling Unit) in 2018

‧ Completed 2nd 7,500kg cargo lift modernisation in 2019
 

Energy

Hactl strives to reduce the use of fossil fuels and promote the use of renewable energy.

‧ 1,600 sqm of solar panels installed on the roof of SuperTerminal 1 in 2019

‧ No LPG usage since 2019

‧ Biodiesel accounts for 23.9% of the terminal’s energy mix in 2019

‧ 7 electric vehicles and 99 electric forklifts were in use in 2019 to lower the use of diesel
