Hactl announces May tonnage throughput

(10 June 2008, Hong Kong:) Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) announced today its air cargo tonnage throughput for May 2008. A total of 218,696 tonnes were handled in the month, representing a 7.5% year-on-year growth. Cumulative tonnage from January to May 2008 was 1,058,889 tonnes, up 6.7% compared with the same period last year.

Export volume in May registered a 4.4% growth on a year-on-year basis to 118,217 tonnes. Aggregate export volume for the first five months was 575,741 tonnes, up 5% compared with the same period last year.

Import volume for May and for the first five months were 59,310 tonnes and 280,553 tonnes respectively, up 9.7% and 3.9% year-on-year for the respective periods.

Transshipment volume continues to maintain a steady growth over the past few months. The transshipment volume was 41,169 tonnes in May , with a year-on-year growth of 13.9%. Total transshipment volume for the first five months was 202,595 tonnes, up 16.3% against the same period last year.
