Hactl performs most-elaborated-ever IT disaster recovery drill to test overall system resilience and recovery capability

(11 February 2008, Hong Kong:) Hactl today announced the completion of its most elaborated-ever IT drill, which aimed at testing in full Hactl's overall system resilience and disaster recovery capability.

The drill, which took place in the evening of 9 February, simulated a background of system failure at SuperTerminal 1’s primary computer site, leading to a disastrous disconnection of both data and storage networks. The IT Disaster Recovery plan was then activated and all services from Hactl’s six critical systems, which provide 24x7 business services to the whole air cargo community of Hong Kong, were immediately switched from the Primary Computer Room to the Secondary Computer Room. Over 70 staff from the IT, Operations and Engineering departments participated in this drill, with representatives from the Airport Authority Hong Kong as observers.

In 2007, Hactl has successfully completed the enhancement of major computer infrastructure: including a complete revamp of the Primary Computer Room (with two sets of fully resilient systems) and Secondary Computer Room (with disaster recovery capability), the renewal of the Fixed Data Network and the replacement of the Storage Area Network. The successful completion of the drill has proven the overall resilient capability of Hactl’s IT infrastructure in time of any possible disaster.

Mr. Andy Bien, General Manager, Information Services of Hactl said, “The scale of this Disaster Recovery Drill was the most comprehensive drill conducted by Hactl. The meticulous planning and cooperation among the various departments within Hactl to handle exceptions, and the professionalism exhibited during the drill reconfirm the determination of the company to keep the business running under the most extreme conditions. There is no doubt about Hactl’s capability in providing efficient, reliable and professional cargo handling services at all times.”
