(9 November 2007, Hong Kong:) Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) announced today that the highest monthly volume was achieved in October 2007 - a total of 246,346 tonnes of air cargo were handled in the month, representing a year-on-year growth of 2.3%. The performance in the week of 29 October - 4 November, reaching a total of 59,442 tonnes, also broke a new weekly record. Cumulative tonnage from January to October 2007 was 2,142,867 tonnes, up 2.8% year-on-year.
Export volume for October was 142,510 tonnes in October, up 3% against the same month last year. Cumulative export volume for the first ten months was 1,199,305 tonnes, representing a year-on-year growth of 2.8%. Import volumes for October and for the first ten months were 59,438 tonnes and 564,547 tonnes, representing 1.1% decrease year-on-year for both respective periods.
The transshipment volume was 44,398 tonnes for October and 379,015 tonnes for the first ten months, representing a year-on-year increase of 4.9% and 8.9% for the respective periods.
Ms. Lilian Chan, General Manager, Marketing and Customer Service said, "We are pleased to keep breaking records in September and October.
