Hactl earns top honours for innovative use of GIS Technology

(3rd October 2007, Hong Kong : ) Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) stood out from more than 300,000 organisations worldwide that use geographic information system (GIS) software and was presented a Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award by ESRI Inc. in acknowledgement for Hactl’s extraordinary contribution to the global society and set new precedents throughout the GIS community.

Starting from 2006, Hactl incorporated a new GIS application called Schematic Display System (SDS) to its cargo management system, further strengthening its ability to efficiently handle cargo and spot the traffic condition of cargo flow while identifying equipment problems that can quickly be resolved. SDS has facilitated many of Hactl’s operations, including the ability to:

  • Track and visualize equipment location and resource distribution
  • Shorten equipment recovery time and operate more efficiently with less cargo idle time
  • Improve monitoring and fault reporting on other cargo handling systems
  • Reduce duplicate efforts and improve information integrity
  • Increase communication with clients and the community

The application of SDS has further enhanced Hactl’s cargo handling efficiency, expediting the logistics flow and further adding values to customers.

“It is an honour to receive the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award. The award is a recognition of our on-going efforts in pursuing service excellence and enhancing the efficiency of the logistics flow in the supply chain. Hactl will continue to keep abreast with the latest technologies and deliver efficient and reliable services to our customers,” said Andy Bien, General Manager, Information Services of Hactl.
