(9th August 2007, Hong Kong): Following the customs facilitation initiated by the Shenzhen Customs, Hong Kong Air Cargo Industry Services Limited (Hacis) successfully launched a trial-run service of “Airport Express Lane” on 7th May 2007, thereby expediting logistics flow, reducing overall trucking cost and improving operational efficiency across the Hong Kong-Shenzhen boundary for freight forwarding agents and airlines.
Incorporating electronic seal (e-Seal) and global positioning (GPS) technologies, “Airport Express Lane” enhances monitoring of end-to-end cargo delivery between Hong Kong and Shenzhen airports. By sending advance declaration and digital truck manifest to Huanggang Customs and Airport Customs in Shenzhen, the registered cross-boundary trucks can immediately pass through the dedicated lane at the Huanggang border without inspection as long as the data on the truck manifest synchronizes and the e-Seal is in good condition. The cargoes can be customs-cleared and inspected in one-go at the customs checkpoint of the Shenzhen airport.
Mr. Warren Bishop, Managing Director of Hacis, said, “‘Airport Express Lane’ provides a seamless transportation network that facilitates logistics flow between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The introduction of advanced technology for truck monitoring has eliminated the conventional customs declaration and clearance procedures at the Hong Kong-Shenzhen boundary. Now, it only takes minutes for the registered cross-boundary trucks to pass through the customs checkpoint. Since the inauguration of this service in May, the cargo tonnage transported and number of customers using this mode has been increasing steadily.”
Hacis is dedicated to provide customers with innovative and customized integrated logistics support solutions, which form an effective hub-and-spoke network that enhances cargo flow between the Hong Kong International Airport and the manufacturing base in Southern China.
