(7th August 2007, Hong Kong): Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) reported today the air cargo tonnage throughput for July 2007.  A total of 220,456 tonnes were handled in the month, representing a year-on-year growth of 6.0%. Cumulative tonnage from January to July 2007 was 1,427,190 tonnes, slightly up 1.8% compared with the same period last year.

The continual tonnage growth starting from the second quarter was primarily attributed to increases in export volume and transshipment volume. Export volume in July registered a 7.3% growth on a year-on-year basis to 122,597 tonnes. Aggregate export volume for the first seven months was 789,189 tonnes, up 1.3% compared with the same period last year. The transshipment volume was 39,493 tonnes in July, with a year-on-year growth of 12.9%. Total transshipment volume for the first seven months was 251,748 tonnes, up 9.8% against the same period last year.

Import volume for July and for the first seven months was 58,366 tonnes and 386,253 tonnes respectively, down 0.6% and 2.1% year-on-year for the respective periods.
