(8th June 2007, Hong Kong:) Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) announced today its air cargo tonnage throughput for May 2007. A total of 203,434 tonnes were handled in the month, representing a slight increase of 0.8% compared with the same month last year. Cumulative tonnage from January to May 2007 was 992,679 tonnes, up 0.4% compared with the same period last year.
Export volume in May registered a 1.4% growth on a year-on-year basis to 113,221 tonnes. Aggregate export volume for the first five months was 548,378 tonnes, down 0.3% compared with the same period last year.
Import volume for May and for the first five months was 54,053 tonnes and 270,046 tonnes respectively, down 6.0% and 2.5% year-on-year for the respective periods.
The transshipment volume was 36,160 tonnes in May, with a year-on-year growth of 10.7%. Total transshipment volume for the first five months was 174,255 tonnes, up 7.9% against the same period last year.
