| (11th December 2006, Hong Kong:) Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) announced today that the highest monthly volume was achieved in November - a total of 244,805 tonnes of air cargo were handled in the month, representing a year-on-year growth of 8.2%. A new peak day handling record was also achieved in November - a total of 9,083 tonnes were handled on 23rd November, breaking the 9,046 tonnes record achieved on 28th October. Cumulative tonnage for January to November 2006 was 2,330,143 tonnes, up 5.4% year-on-year.
Export volume also achieved a record high of 144,828 tonnes in November, up 6.7% against the same month last year. Cumulative export volume for the first eleven months was 1,311,493 tonnes, representing a year-on-year growth of 4.7%.
Import volume grew 4.5% year-on-year in November, with 60,568 tonnes of import cargo being handled. Total import volume for the first eleven months of the year was 631,223 tonnes, up 3.4% against the same period last year.
In the transshipment sector, a total of 39,409 tonnes were handled in November, up 21.0% year-on-year. Aggregate transshipment volume from January to November was 387,427 tonnes, up 11.7% against the same month last year.
