(5th August 2006, Hong Kong:) As a result of Typhoon Prapiroon, the HK International Airport has experienced flight disruptions, with pressure on the whole community. Particularly in the aftermath, Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) has also experienced an almost doubling in tonnage and a sharp upsurge in inbound and outbound cargo throughput in this same time period. Additional resources, equipment and manpower have been deployed in the aftermath, to handle this demand on our services.
Owing to the flight rescheduling, we estimate that cargo volumes for about 100 flights have been affected, as of now. At this moment, the operation is under control, and with throughput resuming to normal, the situation should also revert likewise.
We shall continue to report the update as the situation develops
