Good corporate citizenship in action as Hactl celebrates its 30th anniversary
(27th February 2006, Hong Kong ) About 220 enthusiastic runners from the airport community as well as members of the public participated in the Hactl Charity Run 2006 on 26th February 2006 (Sunday), helping to raise funds for the Community Chest.

This event has a long origin back in the Kai Tak old days, with the inaugural event held in 1984 at the then Hactl Terminal 1. Today, the run is a 3.5 km race around Hactl's SuperTerminal 1, the world's largest single air cargo terminal.

The Charity Run on Sunday was especially meaningful as it was one of the series of activities to mark Hactl's 30th anniversary. "We are pleased to see the Hactl Charity Run receiving overwhelming support from the airport community. Our commitment in quality cargo handling services at Hong Kong International Airport throughout the past 30 years has much enhanced the status of Hong Kong as an international air cargo hub, and it is our commitment to support the local community in this place where we call home, " said Mr. Anthony Wong, Managing Director of Hactl.

Apart from the annual Charity Run, Hactl has been supporting the local community through active participation in other charity and community causes, such as the Air Cargo Community Charity Golf Tournament, the latest round of which was concluded in last December with HK$920,000 being raised for the Hong Kong Digestive Foundation in support of their education programme against colon cancer. The Company's own community services team, the Hactl Ambassador, was set up in 2004 to further promote the spirit of good corporate citizenship, spreading love and care to the needy in Hong Kong. Hactl was awarded the "Caring Company Logo" since 2004 by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, signifying its achievement in social and community services.

Hactl is the world's leading air cargo terminal operator in the world, with its headquarters located at Hong Kong International Airport. The Company's first air cargo terminal (Terminal 1) was opened in 1976 at Kai Tak Airport, gradually expanded to a second terminal (Terminal 2) in 1991. Hactl's present air cargo facility, SuperTerminal 1, was opened in 1998 at Chek Lap Kok, with a potential capacity of 3.5 million tonnes per annum, supporting the robust air cargo growth in Hong Kong. Last year, the Company handled 2.43 million tonnes of international air cargo, representing about 80% of air cargo throughput at the Hong Kong International Airport.
